Red Bull Denies Unconditional 2010 Entry

Red Bull Racing team principal Christian Horner dismissed rumors that his team has signed an unconditional agreement with the FIA in order to make the 2010 entry list. The youngest team manager in the Formula One paddock characterized such suggestions as being “not true at all” and said they will not stab FOTA in the back, like it was the case with Williams and Force India.

Some media reports revealed that both Red Bull-backed teams – RBR and Scuderia Toro Rosso – along with Scuderia Ferrari, will be included in the 2010 entry list to be made official by the ruling body later today.

Ferrari is believed to be bound to the FIA through some commercial agreements signed in 2005, while the Red Bull sister teams would have secured the entry for 2010 thanks to Max Mosley's close relationship with Austrian mogul Dietrich Mateschitz, the reports claimed.

However, Horner made it very clear that Red Bull Racing will remain loyal to the Formula One Teams Association until the teams' body will have reached an agreement with the FIA and not a second before. In the unlikely case of them parting ways with the FOTA on the 2010 entries, they would face an indefinite exclusion from the FOTA.

This was the case of Frank Williams' and Vijay Mallya's teams in the last couple of weeks, as the two teams decided to ignore the voice of the FOTA and lodge unconditional entries for the 2010 championship. As a result, both Williams and Force India were handed indefinite suspensions from the team's body.

From the current teams that are still part of the FOTA, the two Red Bull teams and Brawn GP are the only ones not subject to the $50 million bond between the F1 manufacturers. It appeared that each manufacturer had signed an agreement after the Monaco Grand Prix by which, if one were to break ranks in the FOTA dispute with the FIA, it would have to pay $50 million to each of the other F1 manufacturers.
