Red Bull Considers Team Orders in 2009

Red Bull Racing boss Christian Horner admitted that, if any of the drivers will be in clear contention for the 2009 Formula One title, the team will have to give him extra attention in the championship. For the time being, both Sebastian Vettel and Mark Webber are positioned well in the standings, with less than 8 points separating them.

If it is clear that one of our drivers is fighting for the world championship, then we will have to concentrate on him,” Horner was quoted as saying by the Austrian news agency APA.

To continue his argument, Horner stressed some of the high points of each Red Bull driver, noting that, while Webber is “one of the most underestimated drivers” on the F1 grid, race winner Sebastian Vettel “drives despite his unbelievable speed very economically, using less fuel,” according to Germany's Sport Bild.

Both drivers managed to climb the F1 podium two times this season, but it was only Vettel who managed to bring RBR its maiden win in the series. It happened in Shanghai, when Vettel was joined by Webber in 2nd place for team's first 1-2 in its 5-year history in the sport.

Looking ahead at the upcoming Monaco Grand Prix, Christian Horner is not that optimistic about the RBR's chances of scoring a second win this season. Although they are to finally debut their first version of the double diffuser at Monte Carlo, Horner believes Brawn GP are still favorite to take this one home, as the track better suits the BGP 001s.

Anything with a high-speed corner will be good for us, so I think Monaco is more Brawn-territory,” added the 35-year old Englishman.
