Red Bull Bring Major Upgrade to Silverstone

Red Bull Racing will debut a totally revised RB5 during this weekend's British Grand Prix, in an effort to reduce the gap to championship leaders Brawn GP in the overall classification. According to an official preview of the Silverstone race from the Milton Kenyes based team, their 2009 challenger will feature a new front wing, rear diffuser, wheelbase and engine cover.

Also, the car will have a brand new nose for the weekend, making for a completely new design for the Red Bull-built machinery. Actually, the car that will hit the track at Silverstone may very well be regarded as a “B” version of the initial RB5. As argued by Australian driver Mark Webber, the Kent based track is perfect for the debut of the new car.

Silverstone should be the ideal track for our car. We hope it's (the changes) worth a few tenths... one or two tenths maximum,” said Webber.

Sebastian Vettel also admitted that he expects a big step in performance for this weekend's race, especially since it will be one of his last chances of closing the gap on Jenson Button for the title fight.

We've got a couple of new things on the car, which you will be able to see from the outside, we hope they work – that's why they put it on the car. But we will have to prove it on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. So let's see,” said Vettel.

Our target is to win, it has been for the last couple of races and it is here so we have to beat Brawn. Not just match them, then it is quite tight, but I think this circuit suits our car. A lot of fast corners and medium speed corners, so let's hope the few bits on the car make a difference, and we will finally make the breakthrough,” added Vettel.

Red Bull Racing are currently the second best team in the overall classification, some 39.5 points behind championship leaders Brawn GP, while Sebastian Vettel and Mark Webber are trailing Brawn GP duo Jenson Button and Rubens Barrichello in the drivers standings.
