Red Bull Astonished by Vettel's Pace after Engine Failure

Sebastian Vettel was congratulated by all the staff members of the Red Bull Racing team despite the engine problem that deprived him of a well-deserved win on Sunday. While leading the Sakhir race with a comfortable 3-second lead from Ferrari's Fernando Alonso, his RB6's engine broke down and the German eventually had to settle for 4th place.

Nevertheless, Red Bull's advisor Helmut Marko emphasized the impressive performance managed by Vettel throughout the 49 laps of action, insisting that he clearly dominated the race from beginning to end, even with the engine failure he had to face.

The performance of Sebastian was incredible. He was faultless throughout this difficult race. He controlled everything from the start,” said Marko after the Bahrain Grand Prix, according to Autosport. Additionally, the way Vettel coped with the engine problem in the late stages of the race left everybody in the Red Bull garage mouth-opened.

By lap three we advised him to conserve fuel because we realized he can keep the advantage over the Ferrari. After the problem occurred, Sebastian could hold off two fully operational Mercedes cars which was another sensation. We had not believed he could do this. His cornering speeds were astonishing as well as setting fastest sector times at the end of the race,” added Marko.

Vettel was overtaken by Alonso, Massa and Hamilton within laps after one of his engine's spark plugs broke down – causing an instant drop in power – but managed to maintain his 4th place ahead of Mercedes GP's Nico Rosberg by the finish line. That brought the points damage to only 13 points in the overall classification, and secured Red Bull the 4th spot in the manufacturers' race.
