The past weekend hasn’t been the best one for exotic and luxury cars in Vancouver, with an expensive accident taking place in the city. A Mercedes S 63 AMG and an Audi R8 Spyder were involved in the crash.
Witnesses stated the Mercedes driver was the one to blame for the accident, as camarocarplace writes. It seems that the man, aged 48, was in quite a rush, speeding through traffic.
At a certain point, the man lost control of the all-wheel drive 577 hp S-Class and rear-ended the R8, which, judging by the images taken by those on the scene, appears to be a pre-revamp, V8 model.
The man behind the wheels of the S 63 AMG had two children in the rear seat - we are talking about two boys, a five- and a nine-year old. Fortunately, neither the children, nor the driver were injured in the accident.
And while the driver of the R8 also went through the crash without sustaining any injuries, his female passenger complained of neck pain. Thus, the woman was taken to the hospital for examination.The Mercedes driver had his licenses suspended on the spot, a 24-hour immediate ban, while also receiving a one-month administrative driving ban.
The incident was also particularly unfortunate for the S 63 and the R8 Spyder, since their configurations meant both sustained a certain amount of damage to the engine compartment. The Mercedes appears to have been more affected though, with the front apron, hood, headlights and at least one of the front fenders (perhaps even the radiator) now requiring service attention.
