The Chrysler Group has issued a substantial recall affecting 119,700 300 and Dodge Charger sedans built from the 2011 and 2012 model years.
According to the official statement, all these sedans could potentially suffer from a potential problem with the power distribution center that might overheat to such a point that the anti-lock brakes and electronic stability control don’t work.
The automaker says that a plastic surround for a fuse will distort due to the heat, potentially disrupting power to the ABS/ESC control system and temporarily suspend its function.
"Despite a small number of incidents, we concluded it was in the best interest of our customers to repair the vehicles and eliminate the potential for this condition to occur," said David Dillon, Head of Product Investigations and Campaigns, Chrysler Group LLC.
It’s nice to see that automakers are staying on top of things and aren’t letting the problem get way out of hand like Toyota did. Chrysler says that it’s not aware of any crashes or injuries related to the problem, but it still moved forward with this recall, which will start later this month.
