Rebirth of a Legend

For the 40th anniversary of the 1968 Shelby Cobra KR500, Ford and Shelby decided to do something special and develop the most powerful Mustang ever.

As a result, the new 2008 Shelby KR 500 punches out 540 HP and 690 Nm, compared to the 1968 model, which had an output of 400 horsepower. The 5.4 liter V8 engine gains the extra power with the aid of the new Ford Racing Power Upgrade Pack, developed by Shelby and Ford Racing.

The differences from a standard Mustang GT don't stop here. Another novelty is the Ford Racing short-shifter , making its debut on the Mustang and also a new KR suspension package featuring unique spring rates, dampers, stabilizer bars, and strut tower brace.

For the body of the car, Ford designed a new carbon composite hood with generous air intakes in the front for a more aggressive look and also for better cooling the engine.
Every KR Mustang will have 40th anniversary badges on the fenders and grille, distinctive mirror caps and Shelby lettering. Special Shelby VIN tag will be fitted in the engine bay for each of the only 1000 cars produced.

The all leather interior features some unique features like the Carroll Shelby signature embroidered headrests and an official Shelby CSM 40th Anniversary GT500KR dash plate mounted at the top of the center stack.

You may wonder what "KR" stands for... Well , it's very American: King of the Road.
