Even though Audi is the official automotive sponsor of Real Madrid and the club’s players and staff are welcome to drive some of the brand’s most spectacular models for free, Belgium international Eden Hazard, who is one of Real’s biggest stars, loves his fully electric Nissan Leaf.
Audi probably needs to hook him up with the new RS e-tron GT, or at least an e-tron Sportback. Still, until then, Hazard remains committed to his role as a global ambassador for Nissan, which is probably why he’s not talking about an e-tron model, but rather the Leaf.

Hazard says that his kids were a huge driving factor behind his decision to drive a fully electric car in an attempt to secure a cleaner future for his family while also sending a strong message to his fans.

“As a father, I have a duty to my kids to lead by example. There are many positive actions we can make, like choosing an electric vehicle, that will only have a positive impact for the planet, and the people,” said the soccer superstar. “The biggest benefit of my LEAF is its 100% electric powertrain, it makes me proud to be an EV driver and partner with Nissan to electrify the world together. We all need to make changes today to secure the future of our planet Earth.”

So then, can a man who owns genuine exotics like a Lamborghini Aventador really enjoy driving a Leaf? Apparently, yes, he can, or at least that’s what Hazard claims.

“There are many things I enjoy about my LEAF. It looks super cool inside and out – the exterior look is sophisticated, the inside feels futuristic and the driving experience is impressive to say the least,” he explains.

According to Nissan, Hazard first experienced the Leaf together with Formula E racing driver Oliver Rowland during a track day last year, and he’s been a fan ever since.
