Pizza Hut’s latest promotional effort with Paramount Pictures’ “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” movie is a 12 foot (3 m) tall pizza thrower that will be unveiled at San Diego-based Comic-Con, this weekend. Built after the famous comics book model, the vehicle features a rotating pizza turret that can launch pies up to 30 feet (9 m) at a pace of 20 feet (6 m) per second.
Maybe you’re not a Ninja Turtles fan, but we’re pretty sure you have at least one friend that still hides the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles “Pizza Thrower” toy. Well, it seems the guys over at Pizza Hut thought it was about time to take it to the streets, literally. Built by Synn Labs and their affiliate Special Effects Unlimited, the Pizza Thrower sits on the chassis of a 2002 Toyota Tacoma, which is mounted to on modified airbag suspension that allows the body to be raised or lowered 8 inches (20 m).

According to Comic Book, Synn Labs is specialized in building contraptions for TV and movies, so they were able to finish this vehicle in about seven weeks time. The vehicle was made from a mix of molded box steel, fiberglass and reinforced plywood, while the rotating pizza turret can launch pies up to 30 feet (9 m) at a pace of 20 feet (6 m) per second. The two tons truck is capable of reaching a maximum speed of 75 mph (120 km/h) so you can run, but you can’t hide from it.

Comic-Con attendees will have the opportunity to climb aboard the vehicle and practice against targets or to take down Shredder. The thrower will fire faux Pizza Hut Cheesy Bites pizzas at the target and enemies of the Ninja Turtles.
