RC Flying Pterodactyl Drone Brings Back Dinosaurs, Sort Of

With the fourth installment of the Jurassic Park film series being months away from hitting the theaters, the world is once again thinking of dinosaurs, and of newer ways to revive them using prehistoric DNA of course. Cutting edge toy maker PaulG found a better way to populate the skies with flying reptiles, and the best part is they won’t harm anyone.

It takes the shape of happy-looking Pterodactyl but it is, in fact, a Radio Controlled drone. Designed with a 5-inch wingspan and 3-inch body, the power generated by this ornithopter is allegedly quite big.

Designed with a 15 to 20 minute flight time on a single charge, and a 500 meter range (1,600 feet), the dinosaur-drone is built of sturdy and durable polyfoam design. The 11.1 V, 1,300 mAh rechargeable battery could also be backed by an interchangeable battery system for additional flight time.

There’s also an optional camera the company is offering, just in case you want your personal dragon to tape its adventurous journeys. They had us with the design already, but things seem to get truly interesting when it comes to the way this winged drone is controlled. According to their Kickstarter presentation, it has a unique foot system that allows easy control. The user will move the controller to adjust the feet to go up or down, left or right.

In case you’re actually thinking of buying one feel free to watch the presentation video below. A pledge of $250 will get you one when and if it will pass the crowd funding faze, while the planned retail price is $400.
