Rare Porsche and Jaguar to Be Auctioned

Australian auction house Shannons revealed a couple of highlights from its upcoming event, the Summer Classic Vehicle Auction, due to be held in Melbourne on November 23. From the classic cars that are set to go under the hammer, Shannons say that a 1971 Porsche 911S 2.2 Coupe and a 1972 Jaguar E -Type Series III V12 Roadster are the most coveted.

The 911S 2.2, which is being sold with full books and matching numbers, is one of only 13 delivered new in Australia in 1971 and one of the rarest Porsche models, being an early series S model.

According to Shannons, the example being auctioned was originally painted in light red, but since it underwent intensive restoration it is now finished in Signal Orange.

Expected to fetch between AU$85,000-AU$110,000, it features rare factory Hella grille-mounted spotlights, nudge bars (front and rear), Recaro sports seats and classic hounds tooth upholstery, with its odometer showing 94,651 km.

The red 1972 Jaguar E-Type is a rare manual transmission model, fitted with a 5.3-liter V12 engine and features chrome wire wheels, while the interior has been completely re-trimmed in leather in its original tan hue. According to Shannons, the E-Type is expected to sell in the AU$70,000-AU$80,000 range.

Other tempting lots, but much more affordable, featured in the upcoming Shannons Melbourne Auction include a Daimler Sovereign Sedan that was formerly owned by the President of the Jaguar Drivers Club of New South Wales, a Jaguar XJ 6.L 4.2 litre Long Wheelbase saloon and a 1965 Ford Galaxie 4-Door Sedan.
