January 10th 2013 brings no less than 4 old, rare and exclusive BWM bikes undet the hammer at Bonhams, in Las Vegas.
The first is a RS 225 racing bike, sporting a documented supercharged 1939 engine loaded onto a '51 frame, a rather common mixture when it comes to old racing beasts. This pre-war power unit is also known as the Kompressor, a German term for supercharging.

Famous racer John Surtees is the owner of a bike manufactured in the same year, and which has been ridden to victory by Geor Meier in the Isle of Man TT in 1939. On this motorcycle, now permanently in the BMW Museum, Surtees adds: "The power characteristics are very deceptive…this is a real racing machine."

The Kompressor is accompanied by three other racing bikes: a 1954 BMW RS 254, a 1954 BMW RS 254 with Sidecar, and a 1956 BMW RS 256. Having previously sold old BMW, Bonhams expects a good price on this lot, too.
