Rare Mercedes 500 K Roadster Could Sell for At Least $4M at Auction

With the much awaited auction event at Monterey set to kick off tomorrow, RM Auctions is gearing up with the latest weapons, announcing that the sale of a 1935 Mercedes-Benz 500 K Roadster by Sindelfingen is to go under the hammer. What is really interesting is that the company estimates the vehicle will fetch around $4,000,000-$5,000,000.

The example in question is, in fact, the 1935 Berlin Motor Show car, at the time finished in metallic green. Now it is finished in rich red highlighted by chrome wire wheels, whitewall tires, dual rear spares, a pair of windshield post-mounted spotlights, chrome outside exhaust headpipes and chrome body accent moldings.

Both front and rear fenders are slightly skirted, presenting a glimpse of the rugged and purposeful chassis frame and suspension – and even a chance to highlight the chrome exhaust collector pipe under the right front fender.

The interior is upholstered in supple tan leather with a matching tan single layer cloth top. The top ingeniously folds nearly flush with the rear deck under a matching top boot cover, an important distinguishing feature from the bulky double layer tops of the corresponding cabriolet coachwork.
