Last we heard of the Jaguar XJ220, every automotive publication was using it as a dynamic comparison for the new go-fast cat, the XKR-S. But this story is not about the regular version.
One of only six XJ220S ever built is going up for auction at the RM Auctions event taking place in Arizona this week. WHat makes these cars special is that even though they belong to the early 90s, they have a body composed mostly of carbon fiber!
Besides the splitters, spoilers and other racing parafinalia, The XJ220S comes with a tweaked version of the 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6, producing no less than 680 hp, delivered to the back via a five-speed manual transmission. But thanks to a $20,000 TWR custom titanium exhaust installed by the current owner, it’s more like 700 hp.
