Ducati’s unrelenting Panigale V4 Speciale saw a production run of 1,500 units for the 2018 model-year, and it is best described as an absolute animal! Behind the creature’s mesmerizing bodywork lies a fuel-injected Desmosedici Stradale V4 whose power can make even the boldest of speed junkies tremble with fear.

The liquid-cooled engine packs a counter-rotating crankshaft, elliptical throttle bodies and a healthy displacement of 1,103cc. With the optional Akrapovic exhaust installed, this desmodromic brute is capable of supplying enough horses to defeat a Roman legion’s cavalry – 226 of them, to be exact.

As far as torque goes, the mill can achieve a peak output of 92 pound-feet (124 Nm) at about 10,000 revs per minute. This beastly force is transferred to the 17-inch forged magnesium wheel by a six-speed gearbox that boasts DQS (Ducati Quick Shift) technology. When the oomph touches the ground, it lets the V4 Speciale pulverize the quarter-mile in just under ten seconds.

Braking is the responsibility of dual 330 mm (13-inch) rotors up north and a single 245 mm (9.6-inch) unit down south, all of which are joined by Brembo calipers and Bosch cornering ABS. Suspension duties are managed by a full suite of Ohlins goodies, comprising upside-down 43 mm (1.7-inch) NIX 30 forks and a TTX 36 monoshock with progressive linkage.

What you’re seeing in this article’s photo gallery is an impeccable exemplar with 2,800 miles (4,500 km) on the counter. Currently, the Italian rarity still dwells in the stable of its original owner, who’d an STM slipper clutch, a single CRG bar-end mirror and several Rizoma accessories.

This unscathed Panigale V4 Speciale is now preparing to change hands for the very first time, and it will be listed on Bring a Trailer until Sunday, June 26. As of now, the highest bid is registered at precisely $16,250, which won’t be very likely to meet the reserve for a machine whose base MSRP was just shy of forty grand.
