Since it’s French, chances are you never even heard about Alpine in the US of A up until now, but the A310 V6 model definitely stands out from the bulk of cars coming out of France. One of them can be found for sale in Newhall, California, with the owner asking $16,500 for it.
The original white paint is damaged and will need a re-coating as well as the interior which should get a new upholstery, but the owner says the engine has been rebuilt and it works. The car only did 15,894 km (9,876 miles) around the state and doesn’t seem to be missing something. The right mirror appears to be broken but it should be fixable or replaceable.

Before becoming a Renault subsidiary, Alpine was an independent company that was specialized in making the company’s models go faster. One of their models, the Alpine A110 won the 1973 Monte Carlo Rally as well as the World Rally Championship, after which they decided to continue with the A310.

A total of 9,276 A310 V6 units have been made between 1976 and 1984 coming with either a 2.6-liter 150 hp V6 or a better suited 193 hp 2.8-liter unit, mated to a 4-speed or a 5-speed manual transmission.

Doesn’t sound that much, but the whole car weighs only 980 kg (2,160 lbs) and this made it won the French Rally Championship as a Group 4 car. The unit you see here is from the last year of manufacturing, coming with the bigger engine and a plastic rear spoiler.
