Here’s a nice little sedan that will make people turn their heads when you drive by. It’s from 1971 and it’s called the Toyota Corona Mark II.
The Corona Mark II first got offered in Japan in 1968, after which US exports have begun. The car was slightly bigger than a normal Corona being an intermediate model between the latter and the Crown. The model was produced until 1972.
Power is provided by a longitudinally mounted 1.8-liter four-cylinder gasoline engine fitted with 2 carburetors and sending the ponies to the back via a 4-speed manual transmission. In the good days the engine was good for 121 hp and 163 Nm (120 lb-ft) of torque.
This blue one in the photos here is up for sale and its second and actual owner says it’s running good and has few miles. The US model was available with front ‘bucket’ seats, floor-mounted shifter, electric rear window defroster and a full size spare tire mounted under the trunk. However, the model in question here is fitted with the optional 3-speed automatic transmission.
We got to admit this car looks pretty good despite its age and with a $2,200 price tag, it’s a bargain. Could be a nice weekend car or you'r son's first car if you're looking for something to keep him away from speed and other electronic on-board distractions. Check the official ad here.
