Hailing a Uber is the most sensible, safest choice in certain situations, but it didn’t prove to be a lucky bet for rapper YG the other day.
The Uber he was a passenger in, a Chevrolet Suburban, smashed into someone’s home, ripping through the brick wall and the front yard, and stopping in a tree. Video from the scene of the crash is available at the bottom of the page, courtesy of TMZ, which is also the first to break the news.
YG, real name Keenon Daequan Ray Jackson, from Compton, California, was the sole passenger in the SUV. He’s seen in the video hanging outside, estimating the damage caused, apparently very confused as to how he ended up in this situation. There is no sign of a driver: just 2 women and one man who’s so upset he can only be the owner of the house in whose front yard the car ended up in.
All clues point to that neither YG nor the driver were injured in the crash.
“The rapper was a passenger, riding in the back of the Uber-driven ride, according to sources close to him. There were no other vehicles involved in the accident,” TMZ says. “It's still unclear what happened to the driver... or why he went off the road.”
The SUV was also badly damaged in the crash. A police investigation will determine the causes of the accident and whether the driver is to be held accountable for it.
The rapper hasn’t been active on his Twitter since a few days ago and he doesn’t seem like the type who would address personal issues on his official account. However, he will want to keep his fans up to speed with how he’s feeling, so some kind of statement with more details on the crash is probably coming.
