Big names in the rap industry were busy shooting a commercial for the long awaited Straight Outta Compton biographical drama movie on Thursday, when things took a really bad turn. Even though facts are still all over the place, it would seem the founder and CEO of Black Kapital Records and co-founder and former CEO of Death Row Records Suge Knight was involved in a fight that tragically ended with him fatally hitting a man with his car.
It’s not yet clear what’s the connection between the famous rap producer, who’s Death Row Records rose to dominate the rap charts after Dr. Dre’s breakthrough album “The Chronic” in 1992, but it would seem Suge Knight met Beats’ founder on set before the accident happened.
Several reports are that the incident occurred after shooting had wrapped up for the day. Dr. Dre and Ice Cube, who are both starring in the movie, were not present at the time of incident. According to LA Times, the confrontation began about 3 p.m Thursday when Knight and two unidentified men began arguing on the set of “Straight Outta Compton.” 20 minutes later, the victims were at Tam’s Burgers near Central and East Rosecrans avenues. Knight is believed to have followed the men in his truck and run them over in the parking lot, fatally injuring one of them.
Later the day, officers have discovered Suge’s truck abandoned not far from the place of the accident. At the moment of writing, Knight was still not found and he is wanted for murder. The Sheriff’s Department has issued a bulletin to all Southern California law enforcement saying “be on the lookout”, claiming he should be considered armed and dangerous.
We’ll remind you Suge Knight was involved in a shooting attack in a club a couple of months ago. It was later proved Suge was shot six times, but miraculously managed to survive the surgery and later recover.
As to the movie, Straight Outta Compton is an upcoming biographical drama directed by F. Gary Gray, that revolves around the rise and fall of the Compton, California rap group N.W.A, whose members include Easy-E, Dr. Dre, Ice Cube, MC Ren and DJ Yella. The film is set for release on August 14.
