Rapper Curren$y Explains the Work Done on His Custom 1964 Chevrolet Impala

As one of the original members of Young Money Entertainment (a label founded by Lil Wayne), you’d expect the New Orleans, Louisiana-based rapper to be more into newer models. However, a classic Chevrolet Impala is a hip-hop artist's weapon of choice, and it’s been that way ever since Dr. Dre was doing videos with Snoop Dogg.

The problem with Currensy or Curren$y is not the car itself, but the way he describes it in this interview he took with Hot New Hip Hop. More precisely, we find it rather hard to understand.

Before we detail that part, however, we need to make the proper acquaintances first. The 34-year-old artist has been active for about 13 years in which time he released seven studio albums.

On March 15, Curren$y announced that he’ll be releasing Pilot Talk III exclusively on a $100 USB drive, “bundled with a Jet Life shirt and Pilot Talk 3 look book” with accompanying music videos. That is quite a peculiar way to release a new album, may we add. The bundle is currently available for pre-order on the Jet Life website. By the way, in 2011, Shante Scott Franklin on his real name founded the label Jet Life Recordings.

Now that we know the guy let us get back to the video in question. Other than the fact the car is a classic Chevy Impala, there’s not much of an Americana left behind. There has been some serious aftermarket modification that includes new rims and mad hydraulics. The rapper admits he bought the car on eBay and that it already had aftermarket enhancements. He did change its color into this peculiar green with all sorts of odd accents.

“In low riding, you can’t really just buy one [a car] and ride it, you have to add your own flavor to it before you go riding it around,” explains the artist. At this point, you may be wondering how come you’re reading this. Well, as we said, we find it quite hard to decipher what the kind gentleman here is saying, so we figured some of you fine people can help us out with this one.

P.S. Ignore the huge finger nail the rapper is using like a little shovel to scratch his face every once in a while.
