The temptation to take a chunky crossover and make it go faster is very big, and since bigger vehicle like the Range Rover and the BMW X6 M burn a lot of fuel, the smaller off-roaders are becoming the prime targets for engine swaps.

The world is begging for an X3 M, but it looks like Land Rover is going to beat them to it with the Evoque R. Rumor has it this will get a supercharged 3.0-liter V6 engine that is also used by the F-Type. Expect some 340 hp and 450 Nm (332 lb-ft) of torque and a 0 to 62 mph (100 km/h) time of about 6 seconds.

Dan Buzdugan from PS-Garage has already created a rendering of the so-callled Evoque R. This has a lowered ride height larger diameter wheels, new door trimming and lower and wider side skirts. The design of the bumper has also changed to give a sportier, more car-like appearance.
