Rambo Lambo to Be Auctioned for an Estimated $180,000

Ah, the Lamborghini LM002 or Rambo Lambo as the fans like to call it. The Italian manufacturer is known for its far-out approach to all things with four wheels, but the LM002 is in a class of its own. Of the 328 units produces between 1986 and 1993, this one is a rare US-specification model.

Intel from the Lamborghini factory highlights that this is an original US-delivery Lamborghini LM002, one of five units that arrived in the United States on March 29th, 1988. So what makes this Rambo Lambo more exclusive and fun than a Hummer H1 except for the much-coveted badge?

Would you believe that this bad boy is a Countach with all-terrain attitude and a habit of drinking gasoline at an alarming rate? Good! RM Sotheby’s expects this bad boy to cross the block for a maximum of $180,000, but that’s just the beginning of the future owner’s financial worries. A 2.6-ton (5,720 lbs) SUV with a 5.2-liter V12 fed by six Weber carburetors equals frequent and extremely costly fill-ups.

Speaking of fill-ups, the Rambo Lambo is equipped with a 76.6-gallon (290-liter) fuel tank that is depleted at a rate of 8 mpg (29.4 l/100 km) if you’re careful with the throttle. The cabin may be a little rough around the edges, but this Lamborghini LM002 went through a costly full servicing recently, ensuring that every little knob and gauge works.

Wearing original LMB 902 White paint and a complete set of Pirelli Scorpion tires ($3,000 a pop), prospective buyers will be happy to hear that the odometer reads 52,000 km (32,311 miles) from new. If you’re willing to tame this off-road beast with a Countach’s heart, then book a flight to Plymouth, Michigan for the Motor City auction on July 25th.
