Ram Trucks to Use BorgWarner TransferCases

The new-born Chrysler brand Ram will make use of BorgWarner's Torque-On-Demand and Part-Time transfer cases for its future all four-wheel drive Ram trucks, including the 1500 and 2500/3500 pickups. BorgWarner will also supply Ram with Electric shift Part-Time transfer cases for the aforementioned trucks.

"We are seeing rising interest among OEMs for our active, on-demand systems in the full-sized pickup segment," John Sanderson, president, BorgWarner Drivetrain Systems said.

"These active systems automatically switch the vehicle from two-wheel drive to four-wheel drive and back with no driver intervention. BorgWarner is pleased to broaden its strategic partnership with Ram, providing advanced technologies engineered and made in America."

"The BorgWarner TOD and Electric shift Part-Time transfer cases will be a great addition to the rock solid Ram powertrain lineup," Mike Cairns, Vehicle Line Executive – Truck for Chrysler added. "We are very pleased to add the great reputation of BorgWarner's transfer cases to Ram Trucks."

Ram trucks are filled with BorgWarner tech, as they already use friction plates, one-way clutch assemblies and transmission solenoid control modules sourced from the supplier.

The 3.7l V6 and 4.7l V8 engines used on the pickups also use BorgWarner Morse TEC engine timing, while the 5.7l Hemi V8 gasoline engines make use of BorgWarner cooling fan assemblies.
