Ram has announced plans to introduce an all-new small van in North America for the 2015 model year. Dubbed ProMaster City, the vehicle will be a rebadged version of the Fiat Doblo, a light panel van that’s currently offered in Europe.
Basically, Ram will the same thing it did with the bigger ProMaster, which is a rebadged Fiat Ducato. There’s no info on what will lie under the hood, but the ProMaster City should get a Fiat-sourced turbocharged 1.4-liter gasoline unit and the 2.0-liter Tigershark from the Dodge Dart.
The Ram ProMaster City will compete with small commercial and passenger vans such as the Ford Transit Connect, the Nissan NV200 and the same vehicle rebadged as a Chevrolet City Express.
"The Ram ProMaster City further expands the Ram Commercial truck lineup, which includes everything from vans to pickups to Class Four and Five trucks," said Reid Bigland, President and CEO of Ram Truck. "As Ram Commercial continues to gain share and grow sales in the market, we will be aggressive in our goal of expanding our commercial vehicle offerings."
