Ram Rebel TRX Concept Has Hellcat V8, Will Do 100 MPH Anywhere

Until Jeep gets to show us the production version of the spied Grand Cherokee Trackhawk, the opportunity to see the Hellcat V8 being put to rugged terrain work comes from Ram.

Say "hi" to the Rebel TRX Concept. Yes, the blown 6.2-liter under the hood doesn't pack the 707 hp output it delivers when wearing a Dodge badge, but its 575 hp can be seen as a hefty premium over the 450 hp of the new Raptor.

It all sounds muddy cool, but what are the chances of the thing making it into production?

And while we're dealing with a concept here, there are multiple clues pointing towards an easy path to production. First of all, as you'll get to see in the piece of footage at the bottom of the page, we're dealing with a fully functional machine.

Then there's the go-anywhere velocity of the thing - providing that the humans inside the cabin can take the abuse, the Rebel TRX will do 100 mph anywhere. And yes, those are six-point harnesses, so you don't have to worry about unintentional seat changes while plowing through the rough terrain in this Ram-badged demon.

Oh, and let's not forget that the front axle, as well as many front and rear suspension bits come from the Ram 1500 you can find in a showroom.

Rugged terrain aficionados shouldn't worry, though, as the list of custom bits is led by the extra set of shock absorbers, the 37-inch rubber and suspension parts that offer 37 inches of travel (for the record, that's a 40 percent increase).

And, in case you're picturing a jump where the supercharged monster up front will make the truck's nose act like a plow, you should know the concept has the engine sitting closer to the center of the car for improved weight distribution. Yep, like a Ferrari F12 TdF.
