Ram’s Chicago Auto Show reveal conference of the full-size pickup we’re covering today started with “... our newest luxury edition.” Everyone is kept on their toes by the imminent 2016 model year, yet Ram could only do a Laramie Limited because why not?
Succeeding the off-road-oriented Ram Rebel of the Detroit Auto Show, the 2015 Ram Laramie Limited is, as brand CEO Bob Hegbloom notes, the black-tie equivalent of the brash, southerner Longhorn Limited edition. Similar to what we’re offered on the Rebel, the Laramie’s strong point is, ahem, a simple botox job.

Just like the Rebel, the Ram Laramie swaps the iconic crosshair grille for a new design, which is three things: something that looks remotely like an X, a pig snout or a handlebar moustache. It’s many things depending on how the imagination front works for a given individual, but I have to admit it looks cool and tough.

On a more edgy note, the manufacturer tells in the 2015 Ram Laramie Limited’s release that it “is the apex of modern luxury.” Aaa, right, keep telling yourself that and see what happens next. With that case now closed, potential customers may want to know that the Laramie Limited is a trim that’s available for the outgoing Ram 1500 and for its 2500 and 3500 heavy-duty brothers.

Apart from that billet port grille, the Laramie is a case of “Black is the new black” and it’s quite a sumptuous machine inside, though it’s very far off from Ram Trucks’ “apex of modern luxury” description.

Air suspension comes as standard on the light-duty model, with first units slated to be ready for sale in the second quarter of 2015. On the other hand, the Laramie Limited 2500 and 3500 will be available in the third quarter, the reason why they’ll be sold as 2016 models.
