Great demand for the Ram 1500 Black Express convinced the truck manufacturer to port the visual package to the Heavy Duty model. This is now here to please those who like the menacing looks, but need that extra bit of capability. Our more eagle-eyed readers probably noticed by now that pack consists of - wait for it - all-black exterior modifications.
The Black pack starts with the all-black exterior body, 20-inch black aluminium wheels, and it also features a black grille surround with black horizontal inserts. The Cummins Turbo Diesel in-line 6 engine offers 385 horsepower and 850 ft-lb (1,152 Nm) of torque, but it will also get you a couple of chrome badges on the side. Only the gasoline versions are fully blacked out. The front and rear bumpers are also camouflaged in darkness. Black bezels make the halogen headlamps blend in nicely with the smoked LED taillamps and turn signals. Ram's Heavy Duty Black package has a starting price of $42,140 (plus $1,195 destination), with Parkview and Parksense free of charge.

“Ram has continually pushed the limits of truck design and paved new themes that have been copied by competitors,” said Reid Bigland, President and CEO – Ram Truck Brand, Chrysler Group LLC. “The Black package on the Ram Heavy Duty is proof that our designers are passionate about trucks and will continue to maintain our trendsetting leadership.”

The 2014 Ram Heavy Duty Black package is currently open for orders. Two or four-wheel-drive versions of the Ram 2500 and 3500 SRW, Crew Cab and Mega Cab, Big Horn/Lone Star and Laramie models can be kitted out with it. Ram Trucks will unveil the new Ram Heavy Duty Black package in 2500 and 3500 SRW flavor at this week's Atlanta International Auto Show.
