Rally Car Finishes Second After Having Hit a Pole

For rally driver Leonid Urlich, who was already trying to make up ground after a combined total of six minutes-worth of penalties, the unthinkable happened as he was going flat out on a straight piece of road.
He explained that as he tapped the brake, instead of stopping, the car started pulling to the right, and it got dragged towards the edge of the road and spun around. As the car was hitting the pole it was still traveling very quickly. Luckily for Leo, the rear of the car hit the pole and with no other mechanical errors and all his limbs intact he was able to go on and finish the rally in second place.

It is good to see that despite having taken part in a horrific crash, Leo and his co-driver were able to rely on their Impreza WRX STI to take them to the finish line of the stage and of the whole rally. What a story!
