Rain Ruins Ducati's Tests at Jerez, All Hopes for Sepang

With few occasions left for testing the bikes before the 2013 MotoGP series kick off in Qatar, each opportunity to gather more data on the racing beasts is of critical importance.

However, the weather begs to differ at times, and this is exactly what happened on the Jerez circuit in Spain for Ducati. Rain has simply made all the team's efforts utterly futile, leaving only 5 hours for decent test-riding in 3 days.

The New team boss Bernhard Gobmeier, present at the track added that given the weather conditions Ducati did all they could. Though the tests had to skip some of the stages initially planned, "some interesting and positive results emerged, in terms of both the chassis and electronic strategies", he added.

Ducati's new test rider Michele Pirro (26) and regular Franco Battaini had but little chance to ride the bikes as they would have, especially after two months of "peace". The next tests are going to be in Malaysia on the Sepang circuit, with Dovizioso and Hayden, February 5-7, as the first official pre-season test session.

The first race of the 2013 MotoGP is scheduled for the first weekend of April, in Qatar.
