Raikkonen Would Be Sad to Lose Formula One

Kimi Raikkonen admitted he would be disappointed if the teams and the FIA didn't come to an agreement over the future of the sport, but insisted his heart and career will rest with Ferrari for as long as he is under contract with the Scuderia.

The Finnish driver said he doesn't hold too many information regarding the ongoing dispute between the two bodies, but would miss Formula One if a breakaway series will come into place. Following the latest statements from both the FIA and the FOTA, a rival series to F1 is likely to be formed in the weeks to come.

There are a lot of questions to be answered and to be honest, I don’t think I’m aware of all the details, so let’s wait and see what happens tomorrow. But I don’t think we will know exactly what will be the final outcome for quite a while yet. I am sure the team will race somewhere, I still have a contract and will race wherever they want me to,” said Raikkonen in a press preview of the British Grand Prix.

Of course, we all want to be in the proper Formula 1 as it has been in the past, with good rules. But it is not up to the drivers what happens. I will race for the team: if it’s Formula 1 then that’s great because that’s where I want to be, as it is the most important series in the world, with the best drivers. It would be sad to lose F1 as it is,” added the 2007 F1 champion.

The FIA is to publish the final list of the 2010 Formula One Championship tomorrow, with the 5 provisional teams likely to be sidelined by the governing body.
