Raikkonen Will Decide Racing Future in the Summer of 2010

Whether Kimi Raikkonen will continue his racing career in rallying or switch back to Formula One at the end of the year will remain an unanswered question at least until the middle of the 2010 racing season. In an interview with Italian magazine Autosprint, the former Ferrari-an confirmed that he will make a definitive decision on his future midway through his maiden WRC campaign with Citroen.

While admitting that he spent some wonderful years in the Formula One series, Raikkonen also revealed that he has dreamt about running at a competitive level in the WRC since forever, and it may be an unwise decision to quit it now that he finally secured an entrance into the rallying world.

Either way, he promised his fans that that he will know for sure where his future lies somewhere in the middle of 2010.

I've dedicated nine years of my life to this series, and I have some truly excellent memories. I will take a decision midway through the year. Then I'll decide whether to stay in rallying, or to come back to the grands prix,” said Raikkonen for the aforementioned publication.

I have always been interested in competing in the WRC and, at one point in my career, I've been offered this great opportunity by Red Bull. So, why not take it?” added the Finnish driver.

Raikkonen already tested the Citroen C4 WRC in France and is ready to tackle his first event as a Citroen Junior Team driver in late January, at the Arctic Lapland Rally, a preparation event for the season opening Rally Sweden.

His deal with Citroen Junior Team was signed solely for the 2010 season, but the French officials hinted that the agreement can be extended, depending on the Finn's behavior during the upcoming WRC campaign.
