Raikkonen Wants to Return Favor to Massa

Kimi Raikkonen admitted that he would be more than willing to help teammate Felipe Massa clinch the world title in the season's finale at Interlagos. After previously stating that it doesn't really matter to him who wins the championship this year, the Fin changed his approach on the title fight assuring the Scuderia fans that he will play the lieutenant role in Brazil if necessary.

“We'll try to repeat our 1-2 from last year and then we'll calculate the outcome of the standings and see where we are in the two championships. I'll have the same approach as in the last two races - the qualifying will be fundamental and it would be nice to start from the front row once more. I'd be glad if I could do something for Felipe, that he can win the title and Ferrari will be again victorious in the constructors' championship in the last race of the season,” said Raikkonen.

Kimi's last visit to Interlagos happened last year when, coming to Brazil with a 7-point deficit to championship leader Lewis Hamilton, he managed to clinch the F1 crown after a thrilling win and a poor performance by the McLaren driver.

“Now we're heading to Brazil, where I had the best weekend of my life last year - I'll never forget that moment. Going back will charge me even more I guess. The positive end gives me the possibility of a good winter and a good starting point for the next season,” added the Ferrari driver.

Ferrari will really have to up their game heading into the Sao Paolo race, as team's last performance in China was far from convincing. Hamilton powered to victory at Shanghai with no challenge from the two Ferraris whatsoever, leaving everybody to wonder if the Scuderia is really able to help Massa win the drivers' title or not.

Stefano Domenicali also urged his team to make the necessary arrangements in order to close the gap on rivals McLaren before the Brazilian Grand Prix. The British team has some problems of their own before the Interlagos race, with Hamilton having to compete with a 2-race-old engine and a 3-race-old gearbox.
