Raikkonen: I Put 2008 Behind Me

Kimi Raikkonen insisted that he will be better for the championship crown this year. Present at the unveiling of Ferrari's new F60 car for 2009, the former F1 champ revealed that his 2008 experience is already history and he's set for a forceful comeback this year.

“Last year was not exactly what I wanted but that is in the past now and we will try again this year. Of course it is a big question mark how good the car will be because the rules have changed a lot,” said the Fin earlier today.

“But we are very confident that the car should be very good and we will see in the next few weeks how good it is against the others. But for sure we'll try to win the world championships, but we'll see how it is and we'll go from there,” he added.

Raikkonen was aiming to secure a second consecutive F1 title last year, but a drop in form in the mid-season caused him to barely make the Top 3 in the overall classification. The Fin ended the last season with only 2 race wins and attracted a bunch of critics from Ferrari's CEO Luca di Montezemolo.

However, Kimi expressed his confidence about the new car and revealed that he's looking forward to driving it in the upcoming testing session at Algarve.

“It looks different because of the new regulations, but after looking at it for a little while you get used to it. It looks different but it looks very good. I'm looking forward to see it run and see how it goes,” added Raikkonen.

Teammate Felipe Massa was chosen to take the F60 for a fresh drive earlier today. Ferrari are expected to test the 2009-spec car 4 times ahead of the Australian Grand Prix in late March.
