Raikkonen Escapes Penalty for Ousting Sutil

Adrian Sutil was on his way to scoring a great result for Force India yesterday afternoon, as his first stint during the German Grand Prix was practically mistake-free ahead of much tougher opponents such as Ferrari's Felipe Massa or Williams' Nico Rosberg. He was running up in 2nd and coming in to the pits for a new set of tires and refuel, when bad luck once again struck for the young German driver.

Just like it happened during last year's Monaco Grand Prix (identical situation actually), the bad luck's name was Kimi Raikkonen. Sutil rejoined the track right between the Ferrari duo – Felipe Massa and the Fin – but the latter didn't want to let go of his position in the race. He forced the outside of Sutil's car and collided with his Force India VJM 02, causing intense front wing damage to it.

As a result of than, Sutil was forced to pit once again the very following lap, kissing his chances of scoring points at the Nurburgring good-bye. A few laps later, the race stewards announced it will investigate the incident after the race and hand potential penalties, if necessary.

However, Raikkonen soon had to pit for good due to a hydraulic problem with his Ferrari F60.

When asked by the reporters about the clash, Raikkonen insisted that he did nothing wrong and that it was simply a normal racing incident. Later on, the FIA announced no penalty will be handed to the Fin for the upcoming Hungarian Grand Prix, as the official statement added “that the incident requires no further action.”
