E-bikes have seen an incredible surge in popularity in recent years. This past year alone, amid sky-high demand, some makers have worked hard to diversify their offer and improve on existing models. Rad Power Bikes is among them, having just announced the fourth generation model of their most versatile cargo bike, the RadWagon.
Rad Power Bikes is the largest e-bike manufacturer in the U.S. right now, but their products are also very popular in Canada and the EU. They offer affordable and reliable bikes for a variety of riders and purposes: all-terrain, utility-oriented or for the city.

The RadWagon has been part of the company’s offering for some time: dubbed the electric workhorse, it was always meant to be the perfect car replacement in terms of hauling cargo and even people. Thanks to a series of upgrades and a wider array of accessories, RadWagon 4 is now smaller and more adjustable for each rider, but also more reliable and powerful.

Upgrades include a smaller, more stylish and easily adjustable frame and a new set of wheels (22 x 3.0 inch / 56 x 7.6 cm, designed in-house and offering smoother rides), and most importantly, a new motor. Riders of the RadRhino / RadWagon or the RadMini will recognize the motor as the geared hub one used on these models, which offers twice more torque than the direct drive motor on the previous iteration. More torque means better handling on steep hills and a quicker start from a stop, both of which are perfect for a bike that can haul as much as 350 pounds (159 kg) of stuff.

More options for accessories will virtually make this upgraded electric “workhorse” the best car replacement in terms of hauling cargo or even children.

“We went back to the drawing board and looked at all the ways we could improve our beloved electric cargo bike, keeping our customers’ feedback and requests at the forefront of our minds the entire time,” Mike Radenbaugh, Rad Power Bikes’ Founder and CEO, says.

“The result is a next-level people and cargo hauler that’s essentially a brand new cargo bike. With a patent-pending frame design, custom tires, and more adjustability than ever before, the RadWagon 4 is the raddest car replacing bike we’ve ever created,” Radenbaugh adds.

RadWagon 4 will be available in Rad orange, white, and a special edition black for the premiere, with white reflective decals. Pre-orders are being accepted now at a discounted price, with the delivery date set for September. Motorization varies from territory to territory, and is dependent on local legislation: 750W in the U.S. and a price tag of $1,599, 500W in Canada and a price of 2,099 CAD, and 250W in Europe for €1,599.
