Racing Drivers' Voices for TomTom

After earlier this month navigation solution provider brought back to life Star Wars characters, to be used as voice on the nav-systems, a new set of voices has been announced yesterday. This time, fun and games are over, as the new voices are racing-literate – they belong to NASCAR and IndyCar drivers Dario Franchitti, Scott Dixon and Juan Pablo Montoya.

“We are excited to extend our partnership with the Target Chip Ganassi Racing team into the 2010 race season,” said Tom Murray, senior vice president of market development. “TomTom users can now start their engines with Dario Franchitti, Scott Dixon or Juan Pablo Montoya, to make even the shortest drive a fun and exciting experience.”

The voices are available for download for users who have installed TomTom HOME at the this link. TomTom offers, alongside the voices, car icons and start-up images of the Ganassi stockcar and Indy cars.

“I use my TomTom all the time,” said Montoya, who, for TomTom, speaks both Spanish and English. “As soon as I found out they were coming back to the Target program I asked when I would receive mine. We’re in different places every weekend and I’m always on the go - in search of new restaurants and sights to see so
my TomTom definitely guides me. I don’t leave home without my TomTom.”

Franchitti, reigning IZOD IndyCar Series Champion, is also pleased with TomTom's decision to feature his voice, especially because his relationship with the company extends beyond this partnership. TomTom is Franchitti's sponsor since last season.

“I have always been into technology and I always have to have the latest in satellite navigation and other electronic devices” the third driver, Dixon, added.

“TomTom is a big supporter of the race program and I can tell you my TomTom is always with me when I travel. Adding the Target drivers to the lineup of downloadable voices gives race fans another fun way to enjoy the sport.”
