Race Car Goes Flying Over Rival After Tire-on-Tire Crash at Goodwood

The Goodwood estate is known as a mecca of speed and British racing cars, but if we're not mistaken, the Royal Air Force used to do sorties from the those grassy fields whenever Nazi bombers threatened England during the Second World War.

It seems that flying was on the mind of one racing driver this weekend at the 73rd Goodwood Members' Meeting. After hitting both his left tires against the right ones of an opponent the Ferrarelle single-seater race car is sent flying though the air.

This is one of those once in a lifetime crashes and despite the severity of the impact, the car doesn't break in half. Is this a new form of overtaking called "leapfrogging" that's commonly seen in Mario Kart? This and throwing banana peels at the enemy could be the future of motorsport and Formula 1.

Both cars have been taken out of the race by this crash and the guy in the flying car probably had a sore back after that landing.

We're not 100% sure and neither do we know which race this took place in, since Goodwood didn't share the information. But we think it's the Hawthorn Trophy, where grand prix cars from Formula 1, Formula 2 and Formula Libre are used. We say that because the Ferrarelle 10 looks like an F3 car from the 60s, but its sponsor is a famous bottled water seller from Italy, so it could be some sort of continental race.

Whiskey Tango Foxtrot, I thought this was a car race, not a flying contest!
