It’s been a busy weekend for Italian carmaker Ferrari during the Finali Mondiali event at the Mugello Circuit in Tuscany. There, in front of a live audience of Ferrari enthusiasts, two special racing version of the 488 were unveiled: the GT3 Evo and the Challenge Evo.
The new version of the GT3 has been designed to race in the various GT championships next year, boasting improvements in terms of vehicle dynamics, ergonomics, safety and reliability.
More to the point, the car got a new front end that will contribute to better stability and more downforce, larger vents of the top wing, and a more aerodynamic front section of the door. Also, the wheelbase of the new version is longer, but despute this it weighs less than what came before it. Ferrari admits no performance upgrades were made to the car’s engine.
The Ferrari 488 GT3 Evo will be available starting early 2020, including as an upgrade kit for existing cars.
The 488 Challenge Evo is an evolution of the 488 Challenge presented by Ferrari three years ago at Daytona. Also available as a kit, it too hopes to get the most out of the car while on the track.
As per the Italian carmaker, the modifications made are meant to increase the car’s performance by providing 30 percent more aerodynamic efficiency compared to the 488 Challenge.
This has been done by tweaking the exterior, as well as with the inclusion of dedicated settings for the car’s Side Slip Control (SSC), and with the addition of new Pirelli tires.
Just like in the case of the GT3, the Challenge Evo will be available as an upgrade kit for existing cars as well.
The Italian carmaker did not announce pricing for the two kits. You can read all the details on both the Ferrari 488 GT3 Evo and Challenge Evo in the press release section below.
