RA24 Toyota Celica Restomod Gets The Best Out of Two Worlds, You Can't Miss It

When Toyota launched the Celica in October 1970 at the Tokyo Motor Show, we bet they had no idea that 45 years later, enthusiasts will be driving a resto-mod Celica.

However, you can't really tell how a model will end up regarding its reputation amongst fans and customers. As you know, some Toyotas are considered drifting holy grails, while some are seen as the ultimate off-road machines money can buy.

So, when the Celica was born, with its name inspired from the Latin word coelica meaning "heavenly" or "celestial", Toyota simply could not forecast the faith of the car.

Now, resto-modding a car is a trend very popular these days, but it should not be confused with restoration. Therefore, a restomod has the timeless appearance of the original now-turned-classic car, but comfort, performance, and safety have been boosted using modern gizmos.

But enough with the theory, let's meet this beautiful RA24 Toyota Celica owned by Peter Vong, who, according to The Hundreds, managed to get the best out of two worlds with this creation.

By now, you've probably noticed the Midnight Purple paint covering the car's exterior. It comes off of the Nissan Skyline and makes sure no one misses the car, no matter if it is parked or strolling around the city.

Also, nothing under the hood is stock anymore, but that's why this car is called a restomod. The beating heart is a Honda S2000-sourced F22C engine. In standard config, the aggregate offers 240 horsepower at 7,800 rpm and 162 lb-ft at 6,500 rpm but we're sure this particular one packs more muscle.

The car rides on BBS RS wheels with neochrome bolts while inside the only original part could very well be the Toyota badge placed in the center of the sport steering wheel.
