The UK was one of the last markets where the ill-fated Mercedes-Benz R-Class was still being sold, but the model has been axed there as well.
According to Autocar, who spoke with a Mercedes-Benz UK spokesman, the R-Class will continue to be sold into Chinese markets exclusively, with all the other right or left-hand drive countries no longer getting the luxury crossover/MPV.

Australia was the first left-hand drive market where the model was dropped, back in June 2013.

Previewed by the Vision Grand Sport Tourer concept car, shown at the 2002 North American International Auto Show, the Mercedes-Benz R-Class has failed to meet its expectations in most countries all over the world.

Designed to offer a cross between an MPV, station wagon and an SUV, the model was available in two wheelbase versions, with six or seven seats and with rear or all-wheel drive.

It is based on a shared platform with the M-Class and the GL-Class, all three models being built at the Mercedes-Benz US plant in Tuscaloosa, Alabama.
