Quickest Nurburgring Crash Ever Is Under 2 Seconds, Courtesy of this BMW E30

Nowadays, Nurburgring records are more popular than ever, with more and more automakers being involved in the battle for the overall production accolade, the sedan record and so on. However, those attending Touristenfharten (Tourist Days) events still have to work on understanding that public stints don't come with a podium.

Alas, more and more drivers are chasing lap times on the Nordschleife these days, with this being one of the main causes of the accidents that take place each week.

And while we're talking imaginary trophies, allow us to mention that a new record for the... quickest Nurburgring crash has been set over the weekend.

You'll get to zoom in on the accident in the piece of footage at the bottom of the page, which was captured from a BMW Z4 M Coupe - those of you tuned into our Green Hell stories might be familiar with this machine, sits its driver constantly delivers spicy Nordschleife tales.

This time around, you'll have to check the rear-view mirror instead of using the usual forward-facing dash cam approach. That's where you'll get to see a BMW E30 (the black car) and a white machine that appears to be a Renault Clio RS that meet by accident.

Due to the manner in which the footage was captured, the circumstances that led to the accident are anything but clear. However, it seems like the Bimmer attacked a rumble-strip too violently, with the 3er thus being thrown sideways.

This seems to have caused the BMW to hit the hot hatch from the side, sending the Renault into the guardrail on the other side of the track.

Notice that the driver of the E30 doesn't stop on the spot, but that might be because the man was looking for a safe place to park (read: behind a barrier).

Fortunately, the Ring vlogger behind this tale lets us know that nobody was injured in the accident.
