Quick Electrical Services Buys Ford's 30,000 Scrappage Car

Ford has just announced that Quick Electrical Services purchased the 30,000th Ford through the British scrappage scheme. The car is a new Ford Transit 260 SWV Trend with a 2.2 TDCi engine and was acquired to replace an old Volkswagen van, Ford said in a release.

“We needed something newer, bigger and better, and looked at every option before settling on the Transit,” says Dave. “It’s a fine vehicle and Hendy offered the best package. “The Ford Transit gives me a lot more space for the tools of my trade and has all the mod cons in the cab, which I’m enjoying getting used to. The Ford Transit's also locally made – supporting businesses from your own area makes sense, and hopefully that will rub off on my trade too.”

According to Ford, over 1,100 commercial vehicles, including Fiesta Van, Transit Connect, Ranger and Transit, were purchased through the British incentive scheme.

“Dave Quick is one of a number of business people trading up to new Ford vans under the scrappage scheme, which has been a boost for us,"
Hendy Ford sales manager David Graham said in a statement.

Ford Recently started production of the Transit Connect light commercial vehicle in Romania. If working at full capacity, the Craiova plant is capable of building 300,000 vehicles and 300,000 engines annually, while employing approximately 7,000 workers. Ford expects to export the majority of Transit Connect units built in Craiova, primarily to Central and Eastern Europe.

"Since the first day we became the new owner of the plant in March 2008, our entire team here has been working around the clock to deliver world-class standards of manufacturing quality and efficiency. Once the modernization of the plant is completed and we are running Craiova at full capacity, we will have met our commitment to invest 675 million Euros in this new manufacturing facility," said John Fleming, Chairman and CEO, Ford of Europe.
