Qoros. It's not a smart watch or phone brand. It's a Chinese-Israeli auto manufacturer that started producing cars in 2007. The first model Qoros launched is called the 3, which is available in either four-door sedan or five-door hatchback guise.
But here's the thing: Qoros, as an up and coming player in the auto industry, can't afford to rest on its laurels just yet. In fact, the automaker is now working on a crossover SUV that we believe it's based on Qoros 3 underpinnings. Our carparazzi spotted one of the first prototypes testing in sunny Europe and, at first glance, it looks rather good.

The extra wide honeycomb front grille and a lower radiator grille boasting the same aesthetic cue are adorning the front of the test mule. There's also a proper skid plate protecting the engine, that looks like it's made of metal, not plastic or other flimsy materials. Then there's the headlights. Although the headlights are slightly different than those of the 3, the clusters are somewhat similar in design.

Overall, the front fascia is on par with what Kia or Hyundai offers nowadays in this segment. If we're not mistaken, the central bonnet crease is flanked by two vents, which makes us believe that Qoros designers are going for a contemporary, yet rough and tough look, which is nice. After all, Qoros cars are penned by a team that includes a guy called Gert Hildebrand, who's an ex-MINI designer.

At the rear we've identified modern-style tail lights with LEDs and two exhausts exists at the sides. If our intuition in correct, the yet to be named SUV will break cover in production form in the summer of 2015. In terms of powertrain, we don't expect anything different from the Qoros 3 except for a four-wheel drive system. Furthermore, a Cross version of the 3 hatch will be launched later this year.
