There's no question C8 Corvette owners want their mid-engined sports car to impersonate a supercar. A company called Vertical Doors has been trying to develop a Lambo door solution that fits the Chevy, but thinking back to 2016, we remembered their system giving the Camaro wings as well.
A lot has changed since 2016, and the 'Maro isn't getting the attention it deserves from the muscle car world. However, the same cannot be said about the Dodge Challenger. Even without the Hellcat engine at its disposal, the machine is imposing.
We'd never think of putting Lambo doors on a Challenger. However, half of the tuning industry is about delivering the unexpected and hoping people are crazy enough to pay for it. Judging from the photo gallery put at our disposal by Vertical Doors, the gambit has succeeded.
The kit only costs $1,400, and for that, you get 2 gas shocks, the new door hinges and all the necessary mounting hardware.
Usually, Lambo doors come with certain disadvantages. They need to be calibrated well, and you can't just jump in and out of the car all willy-nilly. But the visual impact is undeniably there. Best of all, the process is completely reversible, so the next person to own your muscle car doesn't have to put up with your crazy tuning ideas.
Probably our favorite Lambo-Challenger is named 392_scatcat. Owner Ricky Bobby has a number of mods to his Plum Crazy SRT model. Apart from the crazy doors, it's also got a widebody kit and the kind of rear window louvers every muscle car should get.
The aero treatment also includes an adjustable chin splitter, a rear diffuser and a huge ducktail spoiler bolted to the trunk. As you can probably tell, it's also rocking brass wheels and some air suspension.
