Putsch Racing Unveils Turbine-powered Batmobile

Somehow, when talking about movie cars, we sail past the Bullitt Mustang, the General Lee and the Delorian and go straight to the Batmobile. While some in our team prefer retro examples from when the caped crusader didn’t have a big jaw and was more of a detective, most of us agree there’s nothing as cool as a single-seater with spaceship looks.

However, most replicas, and even the actual cars used in the movies, aren’t fit to scare little children and the baddies alike. They usually make due with a big GM V8 that only pushes the car as fast as the wind will carry it.

Not any more! As Casey Putsch decided he wanted a Batmobile to call his own, but he wasn't ready to settle for a salvage engine and spartan interiors. Oh no, he went all-out and fitted his version with a big turbine engine. The Batmobile has thus been fitted with a big turboshaft engine plucked from a naval drone helicopter. The power output is rated at 385 horses, which is decent for a monster that only weights about 1.4 tons.

Basically, this is just like the 1989 version of the car that stared in Batman Returns. The design reflects the film's Art Deco version of Gotham City, both of which were designed by Anton Furst. However, the original was pushed along by a convention engine, and this one need no soundtrack to cover up the V8 rumble.

The interior of the car is also interesting, as it features an Apple iPad bang in the middle of the center stack. For now, just watch Putsch’s Youtube video, and feel free to tell us if you’ve ever seen something this cool.
