Right, we haven't looked at a Polo 6R tuning project in a really long time. The car is pretty old and is nearing the end of its life, so people are taking advantage of the fact that the 4-year warranty is gone and have begun doing really crazy stuff. And we aren't talking about changing the exhaust or tuning the engine.
This project seems to come from Italy and is positively horrible. But it just shows what can be achieved by dipping into the VW Group recycling bin.
Let's look at the front first. The bumper imitates the look of the A1 Clubsport Quattro, an iconic special edition that came out many years ago. It features wider sides that match new fender flares and enlarged air intakes the size of the old RS3 Sportback.
The black mesh grille is gigantic, probably being sourced from previous A6 or A8 tuning projects. It's not the right shape for either the Polo or the A1, but it adds some visual drama. As for the headlights this Polo has been fitted with, they do come from the A1, having that trademark wave pattern.
The back is... horrible. Because they extended the rear bumper all the way to the ground and added fender flares, the Polo looks like a dog scraping its ass on the ground. Four exhaust pipes do nothing for the appearance.
So there's a tuning lesson here boys and girls: if you want a widebody kit, go for the rocket bunny look with chopped rear fender flares.
We had a quick look at the engine and interior too, and yeah, they look pretty bad too. It looks like some of the interior plastic elements were painted over, and the TDI engine cover isn't a good fit for the character of the car. But what did you expect from a VW Polo owner who decided to install Lamborghini doors? The supermini is hard enough to get into without freaking supercar doors!
So yeah, it's not our cup of tea, but the project looks like it cost a fortune and took lots of hours to complete. The only piece that's not heavily modified is the roof.
