PSA Hybrid System Makes AM Radio Reception Impossible

Apparently, PSA’s hybrid system which can be fitted to the Peugeot 3008, 508 and Citroen’s DS5, makes it impossible to receive any AM signal. The manufacturers claim that they are working on a solution, as this is considered a temporary problem and easily solvable.

The problem is caused by the electricity regeneration process which apparently reduces the sound quality considerably, so AM reception has been temporarily deactivated on hybrid models. It is possible that the magnetic fields created around the cables used to transport the regenerated electricity are to blame for the disruption of signal and the less than acceptable sound quality.

Not many people tune in to programs aired on AM stations, but apparently it’s a big deal to some customers.
