Prost Tells Bourdais to Stop Whining

Sebastien Bourdais' looking for excuses after his poor performances in the last couple of races have started to bother countryman Alain Prost. The former 3-time Formula 1 champion advised the Toro Rosso driver to focus more on his driving skills rather than blame the rain for his disastrous start of the season.

Bourdais, entering his second year of contract with Scuderia Toro Rosso, managed to score a single point this season, thanks to Lewis Hamilton's penalty in the Australian Grand Prix (which promoted him to 8th place). He has been outpaced by rookie teammate Sebastien Buemi in all 3 races this year, as the Swiss driver also recorded his maiden Q3 entry last weekend, in China.

While blaming last year's car for his poor performances ahead of teammate Sebastian Vettel, Bourdais also argued the STR4 is not fully fit to his driving style. Also, he insisted the race organizers should have stopped both the Malaysian and the Chinese Grands Prix due to heavy rain.

Toro Rosso actually went very well in the rain. I think it is more the fact that he could not make do, especially in relation to Buemi. One gets the impression with him that he begins to look at things in a negative way very quickly,” said 54-year old Prost in an interview for French radio station Europe 1.

It's not my place to attack him. I am just trying to explain it. I appreciate his reservations about the rain. It is more to do with his negativity,” added the French champion.

Bourdais' negativity when it comes to racing is no news – especially not for the North-American racing fans – as he was known as a whining driver back when he was racing in the Champ Car World Series.
