Properly Breaking News: Marc Marquez Fractures Fibula

Marquez breaks right fibula in dirt track crash 1 photo
Marc Marquez, the reigning MotoGP champion has suffered a right fibula fracture and will most likely miss the upcoming tests in Sepang and Phillip Island.
Marquez was training yesterday at a dirt track in Lleida, near Barcelona. He came off his bike, in what was described as "a quite usual crash".

The young Repsol Honda driver was rushed to the Dexeus Hospital in Barcelona and was examined by Dr. Xavier Mir.

Medical investigations showed a fracture in his right fibula, the smaller of the two bones joining the ankle with the knee, with no ligament damage or dislocation.

Dr. Mir added that the fracture does not require surgery, but instead will have Marquez in for 3-4 weeks of rest.

This means that the second Malaysian test at Sepang next week is definitely off, with the next one in Australia also in doubt. However, he is expected to be back in full health for the 2014 kick-off round in Qatar, on March 23.
