After being thoroughly disappointed by the exhaust note of the 4.4-liter turbocharged V8 fitted to the M5, X5M and X6M, we are pleased to be reminded that Germany can still make great sounding engines. One such example is the AMG-built V12 engine, fitted to the various Pagani Zondas that have been made over the years.
While the power output and displacement may have been increased from the first car’s six liters and 390 hp, to 7.3 liters and over 550 hp, its exhaust note has not changed, and it can only be described by one word: spectacular! It sounds like nothing else on the road and it will make you want to push it hard and test its all-carbon fiber chassis in the bends, as well as search for the nearest tunnel to make your ears bleed with pleasure!
This video, posted by Marchettino, shows an early Zonda S, which could accelerate from 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) in 3.7 seconds, before topping out at around 350 km/h (217 mph). Factor in its head-turning looks and the amazing level of detailed craftsmanship and you have what is probably one of the best all-round supercars ever built.
